Rowan O’Bryan is a recent graduate of UCLA in Art, with a minor in Disability Studies. As an artist with a chronic illness, Cystic Fibrosis, Rowan mines the entwined landscapes of  the hospital room and  bedroom, (the isolation of the “inside”), with the expansiveness of the “outside:” nature,
friends and youthful horizons. There is a melancholy that seems to lurk in the background, whether it’s temporal (the evanescence of youth), or the ritualistic routines and confines that are reserved for the chronically ill.  These photographs speak of life, its spark and joy:  never more sweet than when glimpsed from the perspective and surety of mortality.
